Murray Cod
It poured rain all day Saturday before clearing on Sunday. A few fishermen ventured out but most of these were pre fishing for this weekend’s yellow belly comp. The biggest fish reported this week was 75cm long caught trolling a spinner bait. There are still plenty of smaller fish under 60 cm being caught on the troll with most reported captures happening in the main basin. Obviously I don’t get a lot of reports from the top end of the dam. Swanny from Goulburn also managed 4 cod while casting Jackalls late last week before the rain.

Yellow Belly
Bait fishing with shrimp on trees in deeper water, 5 metres plus, is still your best chance of landing a fish. Worms will also do the trick. Most trees along the Murrumbidgee River seem to be holding fish. Catching 1 or 2 fish then moving trees is the norm. Dropping the bait down deep then using a slow retrieve will find the fish. Convincing these fish to take an artificial presentation is the challenge for the competitors in this weekend’s competition.

Redfin
Have been quiet this week with the usual few being landed while trolling. The wet weather last weekend kept the fishermen indoors and the reports quiet.

Trout
No reports this week.

Silver Perch
No reports this week.

Carp
Still plenty about and can be seen swimming in the shallows in the very clear water at the moment. Good conditions for the fly fishermen to have some fun.

Park News: The opening round of the 2014 Australian Yellow Belly Championships has arrived. There will be an information briefing & get together on Friday evening at the camp kitchen adjacent the main boat ramp. This usually kicks off around 7 pm. You can still register your team on Friday arvo. Just ask for Bruce. Best of Luck to all the competitors.
