Fishing & Lake Report 28/01/2015
Current discharge: 5318 ML per day.
Water level current: 54 %
Current inflow: 2348 ML per day.
Water level 21/01/2015: 56.6 %
Water visibility: up to 2 metres
Rain past 7 days : 2.0 mm
Forecast Weather: Mostly sunny for the weekend. Temps between 9 & 28 deg C. Winds up to 14km on Saturday
New Moon = January 21st Full Moon = February 4th Water Temperature: 23 deg

Murray Cod: Remain quiet with only the occasional small cod being caught mainly on trolled lures or spinner baits. The biggest reported this week was a 78 cm taken on a trolled hardbody lure.

Yellow Belly: Were biting well mid last week but seemed to go quiet over the weekend. Increased boat traffic and the windy conditions most likely played a part. There have been some reports of yellows hitting big trolled cod lures. Targeting the trees remains the best option either with sinking lures such as mask vibes, Tranzams or spinner baits. Or curl tail plastics that can be dropped straight down into the structure. Bait fishing with shrimp, small yabbies or worms. The fish are holding in less than 7 metres of water.

Redfin: Schools have been reported at Scrubby, Wade island, slaughter yards and the bluff. Bait fishing with worms works really well but you will be rebaiting fairly often. Try a 50 mm weighted plastic minnow or small metal blade. On light tackle

Carp: Plenty being caught on worms, corn & bread.
Park News: Painting is to commence next week on the remaining 3 cedar cottages with completion before Easter. Don’t forget the upcoming Yellow Belly Comp in March at the park. Lure only.
