Fishing & Lake Report 11/03/2015
Current discharge: 5440 ML per day.
Water level 10/03/15: 32.9 %
Current inflow: 990 ML per day.
Water level 25/02/2015: 38.2%
Water visibility: up to 1 metres
Rain past 14 days : 0.0mm

Forecast Weather: Mostly sunny for the next week. Temps between 11 & 28 for the weekend with light winds.
Full Moon = March 6th New Moon = March 20th Water Temperature: 25 deg

Murray Cod: There have been a lot of fishermen chasing the big one over the last 2 weekends either side of the full moon. No more big ones have been reported since Glen Hajdu’s 124 cm beauty two weeks back. Although things have definitely improved despite the continually falling water levels. There have been many reports of cod taking trolled lures. Most of the fish caught have measured between 50 & 75 cm. Trolling hard body lures has been the main method used with a lot of anglers commenting that the cod have been taking the smaller yellow belly size lures. Orgee lures are also mentioned quite often in the reports. The main basin and down towards the wall has still been producing good numbers.

Yellow Belly: Most of the yellow belly reports have been coming from the bait fishermen targeting yellows on the many trees now showing above the water. Shrimp, Yabbies or worms all seem to be working. Some good numbers have been reported with a couple of reports of 30 fish for the weekend. Hopefully a few of these were returned. Some big fish around the 50 cm mark have also been caught. There have been good reports again from the bottom end of the dam, main basin and wall end but also a few from the Yass River arm. This weekend sees the Australian Yellow Belly Championships being hosted at the park. Many of the fisherman will be targeting the trees with soft plastics. The comp will consist of 2 x 5 hour sessions on Saturday kicking off around 6.30 am and a 3rd 5 hr session on Sunday morning. Teams of 2, Lure only, 1 rod each only, best 5 fish per session. Sounds easy. 40 teams have so far registered.

Redfin: No real descent reports in the last 2 weeks, the odd fish taking a trolled or cast lure or nicking the odd bait.

Carp: Plenty being caught on worms, corn & bread. Or even fly.

Park News: Painting has started on Cottage 22 but looks like the kitchens to 20 & 22 & 8 may have to wait till after the school holidays. I am also rebuilding the deck on 21 and adding a roof.
Burrinjuck round of the Australian Yellow belly Championships 13th & 14th March.
