Report 12/5/16

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri May 13, 2016 11:02 pm

Current discharge: 650 ML per day.
Water level 11/05/16: 32.4%
Current inflow: 3400 ML per day.
Water level 27/04/16: 32.2%
Water visibility: up to 2 metres
Rain past 7 days: 82 mm
Forecast Weather: After the wettest start to a week for a long time the weekend is looking mostly sunny with temps ranging between 6 & 20 deg C , Winds light.
Full Moon = May 22nd New Moon = June 5th Water Temperature: 19-21 deg

Fishing: Not a great weekend or week so far for fishermen. Conditions should be a lot different coming out the other side of this rain event. So far we have not had big inflows into the dam to see any dramatic rises. This may happen before or during the weekend, when the conditions are predicted to be cool and sunny. If you are heading out this weekend I would be dropping a lure or spinnerbait into any inflowing water you came across. The only report of Cod captures last week was the 50 cm fish I landed while casting a Tranzam around some trees. We had a few river campers came in on Saturday but left wet rather early on Sunday morning after the rain arrived around 3 am. Stuart landed yellows while rolling Black Grubs up the trees at Scrubby. He found 19 trees that had no fish and one that had 5. Other fisherman landed some yellows, around Macey’s Bay, through the night on yabbies, while fishing from the bank. The Scrubby area up to the islands was still fishing well but this rain may fire all the fish up everywhere.

Park News: The 2nd Greg Whitehead Fishing Challenge will be held at Burrinjuck Waters Holiday Park, Burrinjuck Dam on the 19-21 August 2016. This year we have decided to add a team’s category (The Greg Whitehead Memorial Trophy) as well as the same individual categories as last year. More information will be available soon. Cabin bookings are filling fast for the weekend.
