Post by Nicole Penfold » Wed Jun 21, 2017 4:11 pm

Fishing & Lake Report: 21/06/2017
Current discharge: 452 ML per day.
Water level 21/06/17: 62.0 %
Current inflow: 82 ML per day.
Water level 04/06/17: 62.3 %
Water visibility: 2 metres

Forecast Weather: A slight chance of showers on Thursday. Day time temps for the long weekend reaching 15 deg C and dropping to 2 deg C overnight. Winds will be light. Barometer remaining high through to Tuesday.
New Moon = 24th June Full Moon = 9th July Water Temperature: 12 deg C

Murray Cod: Are once again the main feature on the catch sheet. Rowan from Albury has returned to the park for another week or so of fishing and has had far better results this time round with a 101 cm & a 114 cm being the biggest. He has also had several fish 80cm and above. Fishing in the late afternoon into the late night is Rowans preferred time. Casting big swimbaits, chatter baits and surface lures into the darkness the preferred method. I have also had a few trips out staying till after dark casting around the big gear in no more than 15 feet of water. I managed one hook up that straighten 2 hooks on the new lure and lasted maybe 10 seconds. Another big hit on Tuesday during the day failed to hook up but managed to jar a finger & elbow and was over in a second. This time of year you can spend many hours on the water casting or trolling and may only get the one chance to land a good sized fish.

Yellow Belly: The only report of any yellows has been from around the Islands above the junction. Black grubs fished near the bottom in around 9 to 10 metres of water. No reports from the lower end of the dam.

Redfin: Have spread out around the dam but can still be found in patches, I had a session through the day casting mask vibes in close along the edges and regularly pulled in redfin. Joel from Sydney picked up 25 on the weekend to go with his 75 cm cod.

Park News: The weather continues to stay mild (for winter) calm and sunny most days. We have an excavator working in the park this week but will be parked up over the weekend. There will be a power outage most of the day on Thursday 22/06/17 and again on the morning of the 30th June.

Upcoming Events: The 3rd Greg Whitehead Memorial fishing challenge Friday 18th August.
