Post by Brad » Thu Apr 17, 2014 7:40 am

G'day everyone rain or shine fishing is always fine. Finally some decent rain hopefully it might flush the prawns out of the rivers. From Horizon Shores to Lamb Island the prawns are about, starting to school up & so are the boats so get out there. Rudy mars and the power lines have been the best with the average fisher getting the bucket in about two to three hours or so.

Snapper are such a great fighting fish. Live bait, prawns, pilchards or soft plastics if they are about they will give it a chomp. Some good spots still reporting catches of Snapper are in the rubble patch in front of Redland bay, Coochie, Potts point, Lamb island, Blakelys, Canaipa passage, Peel north east, Harrys, Rous channel. most are pan size with a few bigger fish in the 60cm rang.mackerel are still no the chew with fish coming from the four beacons area down to south passage bar and along Amity, on the back side of Goat to Dunwich, most are spottys with a few schoolys all on lazers spinners and a couple of Spanish Mackerel in south passage bar on trolled Rapala 30 or Halco Pro with a heap of big trevally. There has been some small Cobia 60cm to 80cm coming from the top of Rous channel and the sand bank on south side of Harry's as well the long tail, mack tuna, bonito have been in the same area.

Mulloway have been at the best in years with reports from Peel on micro jigs at the house boat and they have been hanging on the bait schools as well, the sunken yacht t Potts point on plastics, the salt works at night (bottom end of Macleay island) on livies, the pin on plastics or livies as the tides start to slow down most have been in the 70 to 80 cm range but a few in the 110 cm around 15 kg there has also been a lot of tailor in the same area as the jewys and along south staddy down to the bed room, tiger mullet channel, Wallys gutter, power lines at the mouth of the logan river, there was a meter+ thread fin from marks rocks as well they were fishing for jew.

Squid have show up on the whiting banks also starting to come in close to the jetties at night Redland bay, Victoria point, Cleveland, wellington point, manly have all
been catching squid some big a lot are small. The whiting are fishing well with good catches from Rous, amity, pelican banks, banana banks, the banks on the northern side of peel, the mouth of the logan & the banks heading to the pin as well. Sharks are still a problem with a lot of fisherman reporting just heads. I hope u can get out over the week, from the crew at Victoria Point Bait & Tackle.
