The weather has been so sporadic it's been hard to get a decent run of fishing. However the dedicated still get out no matter what. Flathead have been caught heaps lately. Using 4 or 5" soft plastics of any kind have been successful. Mouth of the Logan River, Lagoon Island St Claire & Pannikin Is, all the way to the Pin, they will start holding in the deeper water now as it's breeding season there will be 5 to 10 males hanging on one female. I have personally caught a big female and scored two males that wouldn't let her go at the same time I have also caught a flatty at 25cm then get eaten by a flatty at 80cm and caught them both.

Tailor have been showing up here & there depending on the tides. Good quality pilchards have proven most effective but chromies & poppers have also been working well & landing enough to get a feed. Look for the birds working & around the banks of the Islands. They like the clean water on the run in tide the best.

Snapper have been biting in all their usual hangouts just being more fussy, mainly feeding at night. Lamb Island, Canaipa Passage, Potts Point, Northern side of Coochie, the Caves, Harrys, also hanging around the wreck at Peel, Goat & Bird Island and quite a few coming from the mouth of the logan & marks rocks.

Offshore when weather permits has been awesome. My usual haunts around Cathedrals, Pin Bar East, Pin Bar Nrth, Sevens, Point Lookout have produced some quality reef fish as well as parrot, pearl perch, big jew, trag jew, tuna, squire, snapper & flathead, using pillys squid & lives. The boys had some great hookups and lost a few big fish but that is what makes a good fishing story.

Once again depending on wind speed & direction Squid are still being caught off the jetties & banks, they like the reeds & the rocks but are easily spooked. Light gear & some 2.5-3oz Squid jigs & persistence should land you a few. Night high tide with a UV light helps & off the Jetties at Wellington Point, Cleveland, Victoria Point & Redland Bay but manly harbour, Raby Bay canals are the best as is Mud Is and close to Moreton Island. There has been a lot of pike hanging in the same area. Summer Whiting are moving in closer to the bay islands with good catch from banana banks, pelican banks, the power lines, Ageston sands, Tiger mullet channel are all holding good fish, blood worms or squid are working the best. Jew and thread fin salmon are coming from the logan river but most are under size, the Pin and the Southport seaway have had good results on livies & big soft plastics with fish in the 10 kg + most common.

I hope u can get out over the week, from the crew at Victoria Point Bait & Tackle, Like our page on Facebook: ... ts&fref=ts.
