Report 17/4/15

Post by subeditor » Fri Apr 17, 2015 1:58 pm

Starting in the river, there’s been plenty of action around the mouth. School jew have been prominent and taking plastic and live baits readily.
With them have been better numbers of tailor and the occasional trevally too.
Mangrove jacks are still around smashing live baits around the mouth, but the bigger ones have already started to move out to sea.
Further upriver, there’s been action around the bridges at high tide, with big eye trevally and tarpon providing entertainment for lures fishers.
Flathead have been picking up, with better specimens coming from Jennas Corner, Jupiters Hole and The Piggery.

The beaches have been quiet, apart from a few tailor and dart, as well as the odd school jew.

Outside, there’s been plenty of wahoo and Spaniards on the troll at 9-mile.
Squire and some better snapper are showing up at 5-mile and the Mud Hole, making for a welcome addition to anglers bags.
