This Kingfish season this year is looking to be one of the best I’ve seen, some big fish are being caught out at the local reefs and with this happening so early in the Spring it’s a terrific sign of what’s to come over the next four months.

Josh Laws fished with David Rothwell at Narrabeen wide in 60 metres of water using a live slimey mackeral for bait & landed a 98cm fish on 50lb gear. Anthony Ball chased the kings out at a local reef off Dee Why boating a 114cm fish on 60lb kit using a live squid for bait, this fish was tagged by the Oceanhunter Sportsfishing boat just the weekend prior.

It didn’t take last week’s winner of the Hunt For Red October snapper comp to get straight back into it, Tim Angus headed up the Hawkesbury River chasing Mulloway and wasn’t disappointed, a Squidgy whipbait soft plastic was the deceptive bait used to fool a 104 cm fish during an afternoon session, the setting sun coinciding with the high tide were just a couple of ingredients for this fishing recipe.

With the wind predicted to be blowing this weekend Sydney Harbour is the place to be. Big schools of surface pelagics including salmon, tailor & bonito are working between the heads at harbour central, small metal lures and plastics are perfect for casting on your light outfit at these masses of feeding fish.
