Report 27/11/15

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Nov 27, 2015 4:38 pm

Some very warm November days are on us this report and with water temps soaring there’s plenty of fish out in search of a feed and plenty of anglers catching them.

More kingfish are being taken each day with a variety of methods and baits and as good a bait as live squid is its certainly not necessary to have a tank full to chase the pelagic kingfish. Baits of yellowtail, pike and slimy mackerel are all working well as staff member Phil Hanks found out, Phil headed out down rigging the small yellowtail scad baits and had a great session landing 5 kings to 79cm off of South Head during a run up tide morning session. For the casting brigade top water poppers and stickbaits have been hooking they’re fair share of fish so too has the rigged garfish spun from the rocks this week.

Our inner estuaries are cleaning up now after our recent rains and more fish are on the chew, sand flats at Clontarf, Chinamans Beach and Balmoral are holding whiting and flathead with preferable baits being King worms and soft plastics.

Another rock fisherman lost his life at Curl Curl this week, big seas and no PFD were both major contributing factors during this incident, please make safety you’re no 1 priority out there, advice is free here in the shop and it’s our pleasure to answer any questions you have on all equipment. Stay safe and happy fishing.
