This summer season is shaping up to look like a beauty so far with some cracking fish being caught this week and not just kingfish but good snapper and big flathead as well.

Anthony Ball and Brennan Webster headed out off Long Reef to fish the 35 metre mark chasing snapper, live baiting slimey mackeral the guys had a terrific session on the reds landing fish up to 76cm on their 20lb outfits, it’s a great time to get into them at the moment with plenty of smaller platey sized models also on the chew.

Some big female flathead have now awoken from their winter slumber and are also out and about looking for a feed, The Spit came good for me during the week landing a 79cm fish on a live yellowtail while Glenn Morgan managed a 83cm fish in very shallow water while blading, deep water isn’t always a necessity to land big fish and both of these big breeders were released after a couple of quick photos.

Schooling Tailor and salmon are roaming our inshore waterways and coastlines at the moment and these fish are keen on the small metal lures and soft plastics cast into the schools. Blue swimmer crabs are on the move in our bays and estuaries and make great tucker for a Christmas feed, head in store to pick up some traps and info on how to catch these tasty crustaceans. Finally from myself and all the staff at Fishouttawater Tackleworld we would like to wish you a very safe and merry Christmas, good luck and great fishing.
