With our bays starting clearing up after the recent storms some good fish are being caught by both land based and boat anglers alike.

Fishouttawater Tackleword customer David Tysoe fished a local rock ledge this week spinning big poppers for kingfish and it didn’t take too long before Dave hooked up to a decent fish on his 80lb outfit. Tysoe hooked the big fish at his feet while fishing the edge and subdued it quite quickly, it wasn’t long before the fish was weighed and measured in store with its total weight amassing 17.5kgs and measuring a full length of 137cms, it’s not the easiest of tasks landing these big fish from the stones, great work mate.

Charter skippers have reported some good size mahi at the FADS this week with some fish going well over a metre, top water lures and live yellowtail are proving too much of a temptation for some of these fish.

With most of the lagoons running out earlier in the week it’s a good time to fish the mouths as Tim Jackson found out, Tim fished Queenscliff with king beachworms for bait and landed a good feed of whiting just near the rock pool.
