Report 11/12/16

Some ripper conditions look to be upon us this weekend other than a bit of wind which is pretty typical for February it’s a great time of year to be fishing with plenty of reports coming in from offshore and land based fishos.

Scooter Kerstens fished aboard Murrifin with Rod Findlay and Mike Brown chasing Marlin at the 100 fathoms mark off Terrigal. It didn’t take too long before the young angler was into a 40kg striped marlin on a 10kg outfit, with the fish subdued it was brought aboard, after inserting a quick fish tag and a photo or two it was released. This fish fell to a small skirted lure on the troll. We are in the middle of good marlin season at the moment and if you’ve ever wanted to catch one of these fish now is a very good time to take some action and make it happen.

Sydney Harbour is providing some very good kingfish and mulloway at the moment, lures are working well on both species with top water stick baits and soft plastic vibes being the stand out. The kings are chasing small bait schools in Middle Harbour so look for any birds feeding on the water no matter how subtle or few there are, while the mulloway are running the super highway so be sure to try the deeper spots just out of the current where these fish target smaller baits passing by.
