With the East Coast Current still rolling down the coast some red hot fishing action is taking place with surface fish like Marlin and Mahi Mahi being the No 1 targeted species this week for inshore and offshore boat anglers alike.

Brennan Webster is one such angler who has been right in amongst the thick of it, Webster went out chasing the smaller black marlin and it didn’t take too long to land a beauty, trolling small a skirted lure on a 24kg outfit in 300 fathoms was a good recipe for action with a 50kg fish soon hooking up. Once landed the fish was quickly photographed and returned to the sea in a healthy state, good work mate.

Closer to shore the Dee Why grounds have been holding some good snapper and mulloway, Tony Morley got amongst the action landing a good feed of fish using the plum bobbing technique in this vicinity.

The harbour has cleaned up after the recent rains, salmon and rat kingfish schools have been bailing up bait shoals around Balmoral, Quarantine and Grotto Point. Once sighted these schools can be cast at with surface poppers, plastics and small metals, using lighter gear will get you a longer cast hence avoiding getting to close in the boat to any school and sending them deep.
