It’s not often we manage a four day break with some accompanying weather to head outdoors so with a little luck this weekend will be a great time utilise the conditions & head out for a fish before the winter is upon us, plenty of fish are on the chew at the moment so grab your gear and get out here.

The harbour is holding some good species currently with bonito, tailor and kingfish reports all quite prolific this week. Some good sized schools of these fish have been sighted as far west as Bantry Bay in Middle Harbour, at this time of year these pelagics are schooling bait and small metal lures are a terrific option for casting in their direction. Good no’s of flathead are also being encountered right through the harbour with various soft plastic vibe lures working a treat in the deeper holes and on the drop offs.

The offshore fishing is providing plenty of action for boat anglers’ and with the seas down this weekend some good no’s of fish will be encountered. Staff member Zane Levett & Jackson Coffey headed out with Oceanhunter Sportsfishing Charters chasing the hard fighting kingfish this week and certainly weren’t disappointed, the guys hooked into some great fish in 30 metres of water while down rigging squid strips off of Manly, only 1 fish was kept for the table with the rest being tagged & released. These fellas are a fine example of today’s younger anglers, great work boys.

With Dee Why & Curl Curl lagoons running out during the week some great fish were holding at the entrances awaiting the smaller baitfish and prawns to enter the sea. Any time you see a lagoon emptying it’s always worth a trip down with some lures or bait to hook some decent fish waiting over the back. Happy Easter break and good fishing.
