Report 24/6/16

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Jun 24, 2016 2:52 pm

Water temps are currently dropping as the weather cools down & our winter species are coming on the chew, some of our local reefs are firing and providing good feeds of snapper, kingfish, trevally & teraglin for trailer boat anglers. Closer to shore the mainland mainstay has been the beaches this week with some solid sessions being had by local fisho’s walking the sand.

Rob Haslam & Tim Ossington Headed out to Dee Why Beach for an early evening beach fish during the week and weren’t disappointed as there were some good fish to be caught. The guys used mullet fillets for bait landing salmon, flathead & tailor in a 3 hour session where bites were frequent.

The harbour has cleaned up now with reports becoming more regular day to day, good schools of winter trevally have moved in and a decent berley trail will encourage them to head in your direction, lightly unweighted baits of peeled prawns or pilchard fillets have been working a treat for Simon Peters fishing at Balmoral landing 8 fish from the wharf using this recipe.

Our rock platforms have been a little quiet and I expect it is due to the recent pounding from the swell, A westerly is expected this weekend and it looks like the swell is on the rise again so take all necessary precautions to fish safe and good luck.
