Report 6/10/16

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Oct 07, 2016 3:00 pm

It’s starting to feel like Spring is kicking in now as the winds are turning to the north and the ocean water temps are warming up. Some great reports are coming in, so it’s time to dust off the fishing gear and make the most of the early season bite.

Sydney Harbour has been alive with salmon & tailor during the week with hovering seagulls the sign of feeding schools of fish…so be on the lookout. Small to medium metal lures are working well once cast into these surface shoals. The kings are about & are generally deeper, but can still be raised to the surface on poppers, stickbaits & soft plastics. Some good flathead are feeding on the drop offs’ at Clontarf & Balmoral, with rubber vibes & bladed lures being very successful.

The current offshore has picked right up but the inshore reefs are still very fishable and holding good snapper & decent size kings. The Perez family fished with the guys from Oceanhunter Sportsfishing & had a great day on both species during the week landing kings to a metre and some very tasty snapper while fishing baits on the ocean floor. This weekend looks promising so good luck & safe fishing.
