With the winds decreasing over the last week it looks like the weather might just play ball over this break and with plenty of fish on the chew in the lead up to Christmas, now is a great time to wet a line chasing some nice fresh seafood for the table.

The beaches are alive with very healthy size whiting being landed all along the peninsular from Manly to Palm Beach and king beachworms have been a most popular bait enticing these fish to bite. Shoals of whitebait are being harassed by schools of salmon & tailor in the harbour and these can be caught casting small metal lures into the surface feeding schools. Now is also a great time to put the crab traps out, as the blue swimmers are also on the move. Small bait sized squid have moved in are a great choice of bait for targeting school mulloway & kingfish.

Fishabout Tours Stuart Reid reports the local inshore reefs are holding kings from 75-120cm taking jigs & live squid. Rob Heunder landed some great fish during a busy session on one of these charters. Narrabeen Lake has some good flathead action using pilchard baits & soft plastics while further north up in Pittwater bream can be caught on the run in tide around the Bayview flats. Hardbody lures and small plastic vibes are working well.

From myself & the staff we would like to wish you all a safe & happy fishmas break. Good luck & tight lines.
