Lakes Entrance
Plenty of Mullet and Trevally to be found around the town jetties. Best bait being worm. Eastern Beach and Lake Bunga are best for Salmon on pilchard and poppers. Offshore, at Six Mile Reef for Rubber Lipped Morwong and Leather Jackets, taking pilchard and squid.

Lake Tyers
Devil’s Hole and down to Cameron‘s Arm for Bream, taking prawn. Fishing around the snags and structures for best results. No. 2 boat ramp and the islands are also good, try early morning. Burnt Bridge is worth a look. Pettmans Beach for Salmon and “Gummies”.

Mitchell River
Grassy bank and the backwater, behind the post office for Bream. The Wyung bridge has Bream and Luderick. Best results using prawn and spider crab.

Tambo River
Bream are about the cliff side of the highway bridge, taking shrimp. From Rough Road to the highway bridge for Bream around the 28 to 30cm. Morning and afternoon for best results using worm.

Nicholson
Best spots for Bream are from the boat ramp, up to the highway bridge and the reeds taking worm.

Metung
Shaving Point and down to the town jetty for Trevally and Tailor. Also try Bancroft Bay using prawn.

Paynesville
The Strait and town jetties are producing plenty of Mullet as well as plenty in the Eagle Point area. Bait of choice is worm but also taking prawn.

Holland’s Landing
Best spots for Bream are at the wood pile, Holland’s Landing and Tom’s Creek biting on prawn and shrimp.

Marlo
Water levels are slowly dropping. French’s Narrow for Luderick, Flathead and Bream. Salmon at the entrance on in and outgoing tides. Bait of choice being prawn. Surf for Salmon and Tailor on pilchard and poppers. Offshore, for a mixed bag.

Bemm River
Entrance is still open. Surf beach have 2 kg Salmon taking blue bait ad poppers. Best spot for Bream is in the lake taking peeled prawn.

Tamboon Inlet
Fisherman’s Landing and Peach Tree Creek for Bream taking prawn. Egan’s Bank and mud point for Bream, Mullet and Tailor. Try soft plastics and prawn.

Mallacoota
Davies Creek and surf beach for Salmon. Pilchard and poppers are best baits. Luderick at Fisherman’s Wharf on weed. Main wharf for Trevally under slipways taking pilchard. Narrows for Flathead on pilchard and fresh tailor.

Omeo High Country
Trout season is closed until September. Dartmouth Dam had a good competition with 1.9kg Brown Trout being caught.

Both the Lakes Entrance and Bairnsdale Visitor Information Centres are Agents for Issuing Recreational Fishing Licenses.
