ST LEOANRD'S
St Leonard’s drew the attention of anglers chasing whiting and squid. The well known section of water labelled Bourke St produced plenty of whiting to 43cm. A running sinker rig with pippie or mussel as bait did the trick with anchoring next to sand holes amongst the weed beds the key to finding good schools of fish. Trelly's Geelong's Chris Pitman had a shot Sunday afternoon boating numerous whiting to 43cm. Of note Chris found the fish really fired up towards sunset. Squid were on offer at St Leonard’s but at times proved hard to tempt. Larger size 3 or 3.5 artificial jigs were the standout lure.

CLIFTON SPRINGS
Over at Clifton Springs anglers boated a mixed bag with flathead, whiting, squid, and pinkies snapping up baits. The Spoil grounds were the best location for those chasing a mixed bag. Out towards the channel anglers found a better class of pinkie snapper. Heading in along the mussel beds, whiting made their way into anglers bags. Fishing the shallow water in 3 meters over the sand some impressive flathead to over 50cm were taken. Keen anglers wading the shallows and casting plastics are in prime position to cross paths with these monster flathead.

OCEAN GROVE / BARWON HEADS
Fishing offshore from Ocean Grove / Barwon Heads, Chris from Gone Fishing Charters guided his clients onto some solid Kingfish during the week. Chris also drifted some baits where they had no trouble in boating good numbers of pinkie snapper. Alex Surdich and his farther Elvio made the most of Labour Day and decided to head offshore and drift for a shark. A smart move as the guys boated a Mako Shark of 45kg that gave them a good run for their money.

WERRIBEE
Kevin Bardsley ventured out from Werribee during the week where he had a fantastic session on snapper to 78cm in length.

BARWON ESTUARY
Inside the Barwon Estuary anglers were kept busy with Silver Trevally and Whiting down towards the entrance with those going to the effort of chasing mulloway finding fish further up river.

SURF COAST
Down the coast excellent number of Australian Salmon were banked by anglers casting lures from the numerous rock platforms between Lorne and Apollo Bay. Fishing on the incoming tide was best and lures like the Sea Iron Pelacus did the job nicely on salmon to 2kg.

AIRE RIVER
Not too far away the Aire River is still giving up bream to anglers fishing bait and lure. 2.5” grub style plastics cast along the edges is working a treat on bream to almost 40cm.

WURDI BOLUC
Bradley Cox made his way down to Wurdi Boluc last week where casting Fish Arrow soft plasics from the lake margins amongst the clearing in the weed beds he landed well-conditioned redfin between 35 and 40cm. Bradley noted that working your plastic slowly along the bottom was key.

LAKE PURRUMBETE
Trelly’s Geelong’s Adam Van Der Lugt could not keep away from Lake Purrumbete again finding abundant numbers of redfin with a liking for soft plastics. The odd trout did pop up during the week with down rigging Tassie devils the most productive tactic.

OVENS RIVER
Fergus landed a trophy cod of 118cm casting a Codger Top Water in fluro yellow this past weekend.
