Apollo Bay
Once again Apollo Bay produced world class Southern Bluefin Tuna and in greater numbers than previous weeks. Hordes of anglers flocked to Apollo Bay with calm conditions allowing anglers to cover vast amounts of water. The majority of large Southern Bluefin taken over the past week came from 80 to 100 meters of water straight out from Cape Otway. Large skirted lures were very effective with anglers reporting multiple hook ups at the same time. Matt Alsop and Dylan Pace were among those out in search of a barrel. After setting a spread of skirted lures it wasn’t long before the pair hooked there first tuna only to pull the hooks minutes later. Resetting their spread of lures the guys were on again, this time they were connected solid and after a one hour fifty minute fight they subdued a 74.8kg tuna. Also on the hunt for record tuna was Paul Carson, Michael Jackson & Gavin Chivilo the guys were also trolling similar ground to Matt & Dylan when they hooked and boated a tuna almost breaking the scales at 133.9kg on 24kg tackle and with no harness the guys were exhausted after a 3 hour fight.

Not every angler heading out of Apollo Bay was seeking tuna. Andrew Orchard ventured out with his neighbor and anchored up on a known gummy shark location. Using salmon fillets for bait Andrew boated 2 gummy shark to just over 1 meter in length.

Ocean Grove
Closer to home offshore from Ocean Grove / Barwon Heads snapper were holding in good numbers in 40 meters of water with the change of the tide seeing anglers boat fish to 6.5kg. The odd gummy shark was mixed in with the snapper and made for a welcome by catch.

St Leonards
Inside the bay squid was the target for most anglers with St Leonards producing the best catches. The most effective jigs seemed to be size 3 in white coloration's fished in 3-4 meters of water. St Leonard’s also gave up reasonable amounts of King George Whiting for those using pippie as bait on the run out tide.

Clifton Springs
Clifton Springs saw attention from anglers after snapper although the going was tough fish to 7kg were taken, with those fishing well into the night achieving the best results.

Corio Bay
Geoff Redmond made his way down to Cunningham Pier Monday morning and was reward with a nice bag of barracoota to 50cm that took a liking to his strike pro lure. Geoff noted that you need to get your lure down deep to entice a bite.

Barwon River
This past week the fresh water made a significant improvement with both redfin and trout coming on the chew.
Kelvin Baldwin fished just below the old paper mill in the Barwon River casting hard body lures. Kelvin was hoping for a redfin or two and was taken by surprise when a brown trout of 46cm latched onto his lure. Kelvin’s brown trout was in fantastic conditions which is a little rare for the Barwon River.

Wurdee Boluc
Out at Wurdee Boluc Bradely Cox was back on the water casting Fish Arrow soft plastics from the main rock wall. Bradley landed himself a well-conditioned redfin of 44cm that proved a handful darting up and down the rock wall. The brown trout have slowed a little of recent but with persistence there still has been a few taken by those drifting mudeye under a float.

Bostock Reservoir
Bostock Reservoir has been a little quite lately probably due to the low water level but Shaun Willis took a trip up there Sunday and managed to bank himself a Brown trout of 1.65kg and 56cm that devoured his pink Tassie devil casted from the bank.

Lake Eildon
The weekend before last the ANSA round one championship was held at Lake Eildon were the guys manage to weigh in some impressive brown trout on 2kg line. The heaviest trout went 4.37kg and was taken by Ray Stratton & Craig Trewin. Young Harry also banked a 4kg plus brown.

Next Week
Next week let’s hope this run of warm spring weather continues which should allow anglers to chase the large Bluefin tuna of Apollo Bay. Freshwater anglers should keep focused onWurdee Boluc for redfin & trout.
