Report 12/8/16

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Aug 12, 2016 5:07 pm

There used to be a TV series called "All The Rivers Run" - well thats certaintly the case at the moment, with all our rivers sitting at very high bank levels or spilling into low lying areas, and from all reports,we will have these high levels for some time.
The flows will benefit the fish population with increased spawning during the spring and should bring on an abundance of yabbies over the coming summer.
The high water levels doesn't mean you cant go fishing.you just have to be smart and fish where the fish will be feeding, which is close to the banks and around back waters and run offs.

THE MURRAY RIVER:
- As you would have read earlier in the week, a 103cm cod was caught at Lock 7 using a "piece" of bardi grub fishing off the bank.
- A bloke called in yesterday to get some more bardi grubs for his son who had caught a 97cm and a 75cm cod the day before about 12ks downstream from swan hill. He was fishing very close to the bank from the bank and both fish were caught within 5 mins.
- Another report yesterday of a 84cm cod caught at Kenley using a surface lure last weekend.

THE DARLING RIVER:
- Heard during the week that 7 cod up to 103cm were caught on the rising river above Pooncarrie. The fellow I spoke too didn't know if they were caught on bait or lures, but he did say that the river had risen 5 foot at the station where he was staying and the rise was expected to hit Pooncarrie today or tomorrow. There is some conjecture as to whether the rise will get all the way through to Wentworth-hope it does!!

THE BILLABONG-Moulamein:
- Cod are still on the bite in the Bong with yabbies and grubs producing the most fish.

# 1st Pic is Craig Leehane's PB at 122cm and the 2nd Pic is another cod caught on a fly off the surface.

This weekends forecast says for sunny days with temps 16-18 degs which makes for a pleasant weekends fishing.

Until Next Week-Get Amongst Them JC.
