Report 3/3/17

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Mar 03, 2017 4:23 pm

We have had some magical weather this week and it is going to continue well into next week with warm days and cool nights.

- A couple of reports from the Robinvale area with one local landing legal cod upstream from the town on soft plastics along with a heap of catfish, which he has'nt seen for around 30 odd years. The other report was one angler landing 7 good size yellas from one log.
- The yellas still continue to bite well from Wemen to Red Cliffs on worms, small yabbies and shrimp.
- Locally a 46cm yella was landed near the Abbs on scrubworms during the week,4 legal cod were caught on cheese near the Floodway last sunday,Peter Kesa and his partner Rosemarie landed a 56cm cod trolling a green/orange stumpjumper downstream from the P.I. caravan park yesterday morning then lost the lure.
- A local couple were sussing out the river at the Pental Island caravan park(for this weekends comp) during the week and landed a 52,56cm cod and dropped an estimated 80cm near the boat as they tried to net it-they are hoping to catch it again this weekend.
- The river from the top end of Pental Island through to Murrabit is produce some nice cod on all baits and some on trolled lures.

- Four mates fished at Maude for the first time last weekend and caught several cod over the weekend on trolled Koolabung Holographic 120mm lures
- The Hay weir pool still continues to produce some good size cod on lures and bait.

- The reddies went off the boil last weekend with the boat races on but if you perserve, you will pick up a feed on minnows, worms and small yabbies-you will also pick up fish using vibes, blades and hogback type spinners.

- Yellas and some redfin are being picked up fishing early in the mornings on all baits.

- Heard of a few yellas and redfin getting caught in the lake last weekend on scrubbies and small yabbies, which is a postitive sign after the lake turned toxic a few weeks back.

- A local who spends most of his time fishing the irrigation channels between Kangaroo Lake and Fish Point road,is still catching good size yellas and the occaisonal redfin on dark coloured bibless vibes.

# The local fishing comp is on this weekend at the Pental Island Caravan Park and you can still enter today or first thing tomorrow morning.

Until Next Week-Happy Fishing JC.
