Report 2/6/17

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Jun 02, 2017 3:17 pm

The start of winter has given us a couple of nice frosts with a couple more forecast for the weekend, but we do finish up with great days.
And as we know, when the water temperature drops during the winter months and ice forms on the eyelets on your rods, the big cod become even more active.

- A couple of locals spent a week at Fort Courage and caught plenty of yellas up to 49cm on bait and a few on lures trolled and cast.
- Good numbers of yellas have been caught below Euston on shrimp and yabbies.
- Had a bloke in the shop at the weekend and he said that he had caught a 65cm cod at Tyntynder on thursday night on bait and he said that his mate caught 6 cod between 50-65cm in a day in the same area-all on bait, earlier in the week.
- Dan McCashney fishing his favourite bit of water here at swan hill last sunday finished up with a 70,60 and a smaller cod on a trolled gold AC and a pink stumpumper.

- A couple of mates spent a few days fishing above and below Pooncarrie and finished up with a few legal yellas and a 75cm cod,all caught on bait-but they said it was hard going.
- Another couple of mates called into Pooncarrie on there way back from Minindee and one of them chucked in a small dried up shrimp and landed a 60cm cod.

- A local angler landed several yellas fishing at Genoe last weekend with scrubbies and small yellas.

- Good size yellas are taking scubbies and shrimp not far from the Kyalite pub on a regular basis.

Until Next Week-Rug up and hit rivers -JC
