The fishing around the area has been great the last week with the natives going really well out at Nillahcootie. Trolling Spinnerbaits has been the standout if your wanting to catch a cod. Anglers casting the shallow have also had a lot of success. Purple/white, red/black and green/orange the best colours. If your there early and late in the day throw a surface lure around as a few have been caught off the top. A few have even been doing night trips and trolling surface lures in the shallows for a bit is fun. The yellas have been all over the codgers, stumpys and ac invaders. Your always safe with a lure around 55mm in nillah. Bait fishing is still by far the best way to get the numbers of yellas. Worms, smaller yabbies and frozen shrimp all great baits both from the bank and boat.

Eildon has been ok from the anglers I have talked to. Everyone is catching fish but not the numbers that are normally present this time of year. Yellas have been best around the Delatite trolling halcos, ac invaders and predateks. The minnows are still around in big numbers and the Redfin are still crushing around too much to get a good shot at them. Most the Redfin being caught have been fishing g around the trees in 7-12m of water.

Mulwala is dirty after last weeks deluge but bait anglers up the top end have gone well on chicken nuggets, yabbies and scrubworms. A few locals fished the lake Monday and yesterday and only had success on bait and only a few hits trolling the river bed.

Waranga has been solid as it does this time of year. The best fish are coming from blades and soft vibes on the cast once you find a productive area. To do that anglers have been running halco’s, sakanas and tilsans in 3-6m of water. If you find any deeper water you normally find the better fish and that’s what a lot of anglers have targeted when they head out.

Across the board the fishing has been very consistent and well worth heading out over the next few days!
