Report 22/4/16

We will be closed Monday (Anzac day). Bait and some tackle will be available in the service station next door.

Lake Nillahcootie:
23.70% down 1.31% this week
Fishing: 9/10.
This is by far the best I have seen Nillahcootie fish for a long time. It's generally hot and cold but this year the fishing has been consistent throughout the warmer months. Many locals are enjoying tangling with cod both trolling and casting off the bank. For the trollers deep diving lures of 60-80mm in length and A diving depth of 16ft+ is catching most the fish lures include:
-75mm oar gee plow 7.6m
-both storm arashi 75mm and 9cm.
-70mm ac invaders
-bushranger donga's & diggers.
- codgers.

So really they all get downto the right depths, all roughly in the same size range. Colours have been:
It's the clearest I have seen it for a long time so a few of the brighter colours are worth a troll.
Fishos casting spinnerbaits off the bank are having some great success. Pink/purple, red/black have been the most used out there. Try and find an area where you find the river course. Cast and let it sink and slow roll up the side of the river bank. The occasional yella has been caught trolling but its the cod that are firing at the moment.

Lake Eildon:
31.37% down 0.69% this week
Fishing: 6/10.
Things are starting to happen again at Eildon. The cod are still being caught, trout and Redfin also. The redfin have been caught around the howqua/goulburn spit, big river and Frasers. Mostly on bait in 40ft+ of water. The trout have been caught more around gouges. Tassie colours:
The trout aren't in the best if condition but becoming more active. Best time is in the morning.

Lake William hovell:
37.62% down 2.85% this week.
Fishing: 5/10.
Well the lake is down a fair way now and the fishing has been ok. Predominantly Redfin off the bank on worms or casting spinners and plastics. Boat fishers drifting worms and plastics deeper are finding a few bigger fish. Haven't heard if any trout being caught yet.

Lake Hume:
20.16% down 1.29% this week.
Fishing: 6.5/10.
The Redfin are starting to school up and the lucky anglers finding these fish are having a ball. Most fish have been caught in 22-40ft of water. Bullet lures, plastics, blades and worms have all been effective when you find the fish. Ebden and bellbridge seem to be the best locations.

Lake Mulwala:
95.23% up 0.68% this week.
Fishing: 7.5/10
Mulwala is fishing well at the moment. Many meterys have been caught casting lures. Surface fishing has also been good. One local gentleman caught 3 undersized cod on yabbies above majors then trolled a 61cm on an oar-gee. The competition held over the weekend and the cod nationals this week both saw some big fish landed. Great to see Mulwala holding well and hopefully continue.

Have a safe long weekend on the road and on the water!
