Report 10/6/16

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Jun 10, 2016 4:01 pm

Long weekend awaits! We have some great sales in the shop at the moment, this will run through till the end of the month so pop in and grab a bargain!

Eildon:
32.26% up 0.29% this week
Fishing: 9/10.
We had our annual tatong angling group trip to Eildon last weekend. We were met with mostly drizzle and light winds. To be honest the fishing was amazing. It was like a switch was turned on and all species were active. All members caught fish, predominantly trout. Phosphorous pearl, harlequin and smashing pumpkin by far the best tassie colours. One member Brad Tonkin smashed a 61cm Cod on a tassie! I'll get the photo at a later date. Myself and warren landed 9 trout for the Saturday with a lot of hits and 3 dropped trout. Jan and leasky landed 14 cod over the 4 days and they were all good fish! They also landed some nice Redfin and trout. Our president John and first mate boppa landed 6 trout for sat also. We were all around goughs bay mostly and didn't venture more than 2.5km from the boat ramp. Let's hope the fishing continues!

Lake Dartmouth:
44.59% up 0.18% this week
Fishing: 7/10.
Dart cup weekend! Good luck to all participants! The lake is slowly rising and should continue to do so from now on. Hopefully this triggers the fish to eat up before spawn. For the trollers you can't go past smashing pumpkins, corroboree frog, Canberra killer and harlequin. These tassies have been the most popular and successful lures up there the last month, well from my customers reports. Holographic, pretty fish and red nose bomber are also handy up there. A lot of fish have been caught around the narrows and up to the corner of the dart arm and around the 8 mile. Downrigging between 30-50ft has been the best, also 3-5 colours of lead core. Flailing has been ok early and late in the day but should improve as it gets colder. For the casters Rapala spotted dog in cd5, 5-0 bullet lures and fish arrow soft plastics have been working well up the gullies. Gudgeon on a float is also going well up the arms amongst the trees.

Lake William hovel:
99.38% up 0.44% this week.
Fishing: 8/10.
She's full and fishing well. Worms off the bank is catching bothe trout and Redfin. The trollers are catching a lot more fish now. Attractors and worms has been dynamite, also lead coring in 20-30ft with 3 colours out over the newly covered ground. Tassies like red nose bomber, pink bomber and Canberra killer all catching fish.

Nillahcootie and the broken river have been pretty quiet the last few weeks. Only a few small cod being caught in both on worms.

Waranga basin is averaging 1.15% increase a week so hopefully this brings the big girls out! A lot of small redfin being caught there with a handful going over 35cm.

Just a reminder:
The salmon is closed season for 2016 is from midnight on Monday 13th June to midnight Friday 2nd September.

Stay safe this long weekend both on the water and on the road. There is heaps of good fishing around so get at it!
