Report 17/6/16

We have some great winter specials at the moment. Heaps of rod, reel, and combos heavily discounted. A lot of $10 lures and much more. Pop in and grab yourself a bargain!

Lake Dartmouth:
45.34% up 0.76% this week
Fishing: 7/10.
The dart cup was held over the long weekend with heaps of trout caught. A lot of anglers reported that the trout were there but swiping lures and not hooking up. Pink tassies like kg special, bleeding flamingo and pink bomber caught fish along with smashing pumpkin, Canberra killer and holographic. Bullet lures in the 5-0 series were dynamite also, best colours being rainbow trout and gudgeon pattern. Attractors and worms were getting a lot of attention but anglers found that the trout were nipping the back of the worm and not coming back to eat the rest of the worm. All in all from anglers reports that it was another successful competition.

Lake Eildon:
33.32% up 1.06% this week.
Fishing: 6.5/10.
It's funny we fished goughs the weekend before last and had a cracking session. This long weekend was a lot quieter. Many local anglers fished Eildon over the weekend with only a couple of fish here and there. Anglers chasing trout caught 2-5 fish for the day, of course phosphorous pearl was the stand out lure. Fishing close to tree's seems to be the go still, so get in tight and wait for the bite. For the anglers chasing cod black, green and orange has been dynamite the last few weeks. Oar-gee's, codgers, ac invaders and predatek boomerangs in this colours should get you a cod or 2. Both sides of like lake heading towards howqua/ goulburn from goughs are great spots to find a cod. Many anglers are reporting cod coughing up Redfin between 8-15cm so try match the hatch, maybe a 70-90mm Redfin pattern ac invader. The reddies are around more on the flats than the steeper bank. 3-6m of water seems to be where most are getting caught. Size 3 stumpys, rmg poltergeists, Austackle sakanas and 50mm ac invaders are all ideal lures for this. Stick to your perch, red and pink coloured lures. Bait fishing has been so so for the reddies. You still have to move around the trees to find consistent fishing, worms the best bait.

Lake William hovell:
101.49% steady
Fishing: 8/10.
Trollers are having great fun on the trout, a lot of small fish but still getting them. Flatlining tassies in orange, pink and brown are catching fish early. As the day gets on attractors and worms and lead core are the go. Off the bank anglers are catching some trout and Redfin on worms. Anglers flicking blades and plastics are getting Redfin and the occasional trout.

Haven't heard much else this week, nillahcootie has been very quiet with 1-2 fish being caught on the troll.

Broken is high and a few small cod have been caught on wood grubs.

Waranga is still producing a lot of small fish but still a lot of fun.

Just a reminder:
Trout streams ore now closed and won't open till midnight Friday 2nd of September.

Keep persisting as lakes are all on the rise and eventually we should see more consistent fishing.
