Report 1/9/16

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Sep 02, 2016 9:12 am

Spring is finally here! So remember that it is now closed season for Murray cod. With the only exemption being lake Eildon. Also the trout season opens midnight Friday 2nd September.

Lake Eildon:
57.02% up 1.79% this week.
Fishing: 6/10.
More and more continues to happen over at Eildon. The trout seem to be more active, a few Yellas are showing up and a few cod still being caught. Big river seems to be the anglers pick at the moment with all species being caught up there. Trolling your white, pink, orange tassie devils close to the tree tips has been very good. Most of the Yellas have been caught on bait, a few small Redfin also. Cod have been caught around the howqua/goulburn spit on the troll. Casters have also caught a few on spinnerbaits and chatter baits. Waters still pretty dirty but the fish are seeming to play a bit more.

Lake Hume:
90.86% up 3.77% this week.
Hume continues to rise but I noticed today going over the Murray at albury that the water was high and fast so that might slow it down a bit. Yellas have been caught this week with ac invaders, stumpys and Halco's trolled in 15-25ft along the banks. The occasional Redfin is also having a crack. The big browns are still there and still getting caught but its like previous weeks you just have to persist to hook up.

Lake Nillahcootie:
102.04% up 1.29% this week.
Fishing: 5/10.
Reports are saying there is a heap of water going over the spillway, a cool thing to see. The fishing has been ok off the bank with a few Yellas being caught on worms, small yabbies and frozen shrimp. Haven't heard anything from the trollers.

Broken river is really high due to nillah being full.

Waranga basin is 92% and a few Redfin being caught drifting worms and jigging blades.

Don't forget out spring sale from today till Monday!
