Report 11/12/15

There has been a lot going on in fishing in the the last couple of weeks. As proud sponsors of the Nautical Marine Fishing Comp, we conducted the weigh-in seeing a record number of participants and families turning up for the Sunday afternoon at the Sorrento-Portsea RSL. It was a great afternoon and the weather played its part allowing anglers out targeting Snapper, Whiting and Squid.

Now for a few of our customer and friend’s reports from the peninsula and beyond.

Good friend of the shop Luke McCredden fished in 17m off Frankston, getting back to a bit of his favoured plastics fishing. Luke was fishing solo and managed a few nice reds which fell to Squidgy Flickbaits in pilly colour 110mm. All the fish were between 4 – 6kg.

Matt Garrett has had some succesful gummuy shark trips in recent weeks. This week he again produced a nice 11kg fish just off Rye.... plenty for a very good meal of fish and chips!

Dad’s Joe and Ray took their kids Julian Farrugia and Zac Borg snapper fishing off Mt Eliza. It was a great morning with Julian landing his first snapper. All in all they caught 5 fish between 1.8kg and 6.47kg on silver whiting. All the fish were taken within a pretty busy hour window, the boys doing a great job catching and netting the fish themselves.

Ryan Wells fished off P2 taking some ripping fish. They also fished off Mordialloc taking a trophy 10.3kg snapper!

Mitcham Angling Club members, Rob and Pat, ventured out to westernport last week. The whiting didn’t disappoint with the boys getting their 40 in 10m around the Hastings area! Looks like there were some very nice fish amongst them too.

Lee Bricknell fished yesterday in the yarra - an annual tradition for Lee who fishes the 1st of December every year. He caught two nice fish the smallest went 63cm and the biggest went 95cm. Lovely day on the water sun out and the cod all hit his baits just after lunch.
