Report 20/10/16

Post by Nicole Penfold » Wed Oct 26, 2016 3:44 pm

With the windy conditions most of this week the fishing has again been proving difficult, however a few king fish have been spotted at times around Merimbula Wharf the reports we have are as follows:
MERIMBULA WHARF producing a few Squid and if lucky enough to dodge the wind the odd Salmon & Tailor also being caught as mentioned earlier King Fish making a show this week
GAME FISHING For those lucky enough to get out this week were onto the Albacore. Nice sized striped Tuna reports of Mako sharks also
TURA BEACH has been OK with a few Salmon and Tailor taking both lures and bait. North Tura has some great gutter so give them a go
MAIN BEACH still getting a few and Salmon and whiting showing up best bet are Red Devil worms.
HAYCOCK is producing a few salmon . Using pilchards has been most popular. Arma lures are also popular with all beach fishing. The trick is to find those deep gutters
HEADLANDS are still producing some nice size Drummer on Tura Head, Short Point and Haycock, with the odd Tailor and Salmon coming in as well. Reports of a few Kingies off the Headland as well. Watch the swell.Good spot to be with the south west winds
THE REEFS have been producing a few Snapper, Nannygai, Morwong and Flathead are starting to show up. Bournda Island is proving to be successful around the 40-42 metres. Some nice flatties coming in north of Tathra.
BEGA RIVER has a few bream in the upper reaches. Try some surface lures in the shallows will work best. Still some Flathead up towards the bridge.; try some ZMan grubz or black and gold fish on squidgy plastics. Some nice Perch and Bass coming in as well, go for the deeper holes on the rock walls, or surface lures. Jitter Bugs doing a good job also
MERIMBULA LAKE still has some nice Trevally around the main bridge; try some small plastics or metals for them. There’s still a few Flathead being caught on plastics and vibes. The odd Tailor also being caught. Go for the deep diving hard bodies for them. Surface lures over the weed beds on high tide are also recommended. The whiting are on the move now so for best results try the Red Devil worms and surface lures on the sand flats a go. Jackson lures along with Bassday Sugarpen lures for the whiting will work well for you here
PAMBULA LAKE. A few good size Flathead coming out from Broadwater. The Tailor is also dominant here on metals and again the deep diving hard body. Best place would be out the front of Broadwater engineering
WONBOYN LAKE producing a few nice Bream in the upper reaches with the odd perch around as well. Flathead being caught in the main lake. Try some Z-man grubs in motor oil for both Bream and Flathead

Happy fishing from the Tackleworld staff
