Ocean Flathead on the Chew as Warm Currents Return

Kingfish have been prowling at both our local wharfs; Tathra and Merimbula. Most hook-ups have been at Tathra but none landed. At the Merimbula Platform Calamari Squid have slowed and it takes patience and effort to achieve good results. Luderick have finally come on the bite and double hook-ups possible on artificial weed lures. Australian Salmon are patchy everywhere including the beaches.

With the return of the warm currents (19 degrees plus) Ocean Flathead have sparked up and bag limit catches (10 per person) reported from off Kianinny and Tura Beach. Snapper are also back on the chew at our local reefs with good catches reported from the Haycock area. Try micro jigs. Morwong have remained on the bite and respond to bait and soft plastics. Gummy Sharks are plentiful but need patience and a well placed burley bomb.

Fish in the Merimbula Lake are on the chew! Dusky Flathead, Bream, Trevally and Whiting are all available, try Strike Pro Cyber Vibes 6.6gm. Some very large Jewfish have been sighted near the channel in the Merimbula Top Lake. At the Marina there are Trevalley, Bream and Whiting. The Bega River continues to provide plentiful Dusky Flathead and Bream and continues to fish well for Whiting at Mogareeka.
