Report 2/6/17

This time 1 year ago the Mighty Shoalhaven River was preparing to burst it's banks and flood as our coast was bombarded with a series of east coast lows...now look at it...calm, clear and beautiful, and fishing pretty dam good! We've had a pretty good season in the river and winter is looking just as good...There are still plenty of jew throughout, plenty of bream, plenty of perch and bass as bi-catch which must be returned to the water due to the closed season, and of late a good run of flathead both upstream and downstream. If the weather holds a little for the weekend the river may be a good option if you need to get out for your fishing fix....looking right now it looks as though it's ssw until late next week with a chance of rain...hopefully not as much as last year.

Remember to do your sums for the tide when fishing up river as there is quite a difference from the entrance to the bridge and beyond. For example this morning the tide on the chart is low tide at 9:04am at the river mouth...and at 10am upstream at the Shoalhaven Ski Park it is still running out...probably about half way... so there is several hours difference. Something to take into account when planning your next trip!
