Offshore
Some great gummy sharks to be caught between Bastion Point and Tallaberga. The hot zone has been 30m with many anglers taking fish to 20kg.

The best bait has been salmon fillets or whole large pilchards fished on either a simple paternoster rig or any other rig that puts the bait close to the bottom. Broken reef, rubble or slight depressions in the sand are great areas to look.

Flathead can be taken on most sandy areas in 30-50m of water. Double paternoster rigs with baits fished on the bottom that are baited with pilchard or other oily fish baits taking some good numbers of fish.

Still no news of the kingfish appearing yet despite the good currents and big schools of bait fish. They should appear any time now so if out keep an eye out for birds working surface bust ups and schools of larger fish mid water on the sounder.

Beaches
The schools of salmon moving along the beaches have stil been providing anglers with some great fun. spinning metal lures along the gutters on the incoming or high tide is the best way to take these fish. Bait anglers having success during low light conditions on whole pilchards.

Lake
Flathead on the bite with many anglers taking good numbers of fish. Any small to medium sized soft plastic curl or paddle tail in a natural colour taking the majority of fish. Small vibes also proving successful. the majority of the fish have come from The Narrows or the top lake from areas like Palmers Bank, Dead Finish and Genoa River Fire Trail.

Blue bait and prawn also working well for the anglers fishing with bait. Deep drop offs working well for the anglers using bait.

Bream fishing also very good in the top lake. Bait and lures taking plenty of fish. The lure anglers finding success fishing small grub style soft plastics down the many rock walls in the upper reaches. Motor oiled colour lures the stand out. A few fish also getting about on the flats and being taken on small hardbody lures.

The bait anglers doing well fishing the edges of a lake fishing with baits like prawns and bass yabbies.
