Offshore
Swordfish still offshore but few anglers have been venturing out to the canyons to find them. Plenty still being taken by boats down at Lakes Entrance as well.

A few smaller tuna including striped and Bluefin have been taken out wide of Gabo Island, a rouge dolphin fish also taken. Trolling around out along the shelf has been the area to target. Skirts and large diving lures taking the fish.

There have also still been good concentrations of good sized kingfish out at the Star Banks. Jigs taking the majority of the fish. Live baits and squid strips also taking the odd fish.

Plenty of good flathead being taken at Talaberga. Some great bags to be taken by anglers. Baits like pilchard and squid have been working well. Heavily weighted soft plastics and small micro jigs also taking the fish.

Some great gummy fishing has been had down south past Little Ram. Drift out wide of the reefs and use fish fillets as bait to target these guys. A few big seven gillers and bronze whalers also being taken as by catch by those fishing for gummies.

Plenty of pinkie snapper on most of the reefs as well. Fish smaller pieces of fish over the reefs to take these fish. Soft plastics also taking the fish as well.

Beaches
Excellent numbers of salmon and tailor being taken by anglers spinning metal lures down along the surface gutters at Tip and Davis Beach. Fish the high tide for the best fishing but plenty of fish to be taken at all stages.

A few good bream also being taken by those fishing cubed pilchards behind the shore break. These fish respond readily to burley.

Lake
Plenty trevally and tailor schools moving throughout the inlet. Find steep drop offs with large aggregations bait usually hold the schools of these fish. Soft plastics and vibes taking the fish. Try wriggler style lures or small lures with plenty of movement on the sink.

Flathead still biting in the top lake. Fish the shallows. 1.5m or less to find the active fish. They have been feeding on the remaining prawns in the lake so prawn style soft plastics have been the most effective. Vibes also taking plenty of fish out a bit deeper.

Bream have been biting alright for lure fishermen. Try sounding the schools of fish in deeper water and throw vibes and soft plastics weighted on appropriate jigheads (1/8th – 1/16th) at the fish. Slower presentations taking the best fish.

A few good fish to be taken fishing the edges of flats when the wind is up as well. Either use jerk bait style hardbodies or lightly weighted soft plastics (1/16th or lighter) to target active fish feeding in the shallows.

Luderick also an option for anglers fishing in Harrisons Channel or the Main Channel jetties. Fresh green weed is the best way to catch them but bass yabbies and sand worms also taking fish. Green weed can be sourced from the entrance at Betka River.

Coul’s inlet taking plenty of bream for anglers fishing with prawns. Fish them on light sinker with a small circle hook for the best results.

Most of the lake has been fishing very well for bream for the anglers fishing baits. Bottom lake has been the stand out with many anglers catching good fish at Goodwin sands using bass yabbies or prawns rigged on small circle hooks.
