The recent run of good weather has seen plenty of people getting stuck into a variety of species. The calamari locally are prolific as are the pinkies. The salmon and Kingfish are still in abundance for the keen angler. Further north, Bermagui has been fishing exceptionally well with many Marlin, Dolphin fish and Kingfish being caught.

Port Phillip Bay
With the recent run of good weather over the past week the fishing out of Port Phillip Bay has been exceptional. The local reefs have been stacked with everything from pinkies to calamari. The red-foiled Yamashita and Evergreen squid jigs have been the undoing of most squid caught. With the weather forecast for the this long weekend looking very promising, expect the fishing to only get better. Good numbers of Kingfish have also been encountered out of the RIP. The usual methods such as live-baiting and jigging have accounted for most success. If you are fairly new to the kingfish scene come in store and the boys are more than happy to lend a hand with everything from techniques to rigs, sinkers and lures.

Westernport Bay
The fishing out of Westernport Bay over the past few days has been impressive. Squid, Salmon, Whiting and Kingfish have been all to regularly encountered. The Western Entrance has regularly produced massive schools of salmon ranging in size from 2-4kgs. Casting lightly weighted Zman soft plastics in amongst the school has seemed to have landed most fish. Salmon are a great fighting fish and can provide hours of fun for the family. Don't be scared to also troll live baits around these schools as Staff member Sam found out, Kingfish will all too often hang off these salmon schools looking for an easy feed. On the gummy front, plenty of great sized fish have been found. Fresh squid and salmon has proved the most successful bait.

On the Tuna front, Portland has been producing some great fish. Customers of Red Hot fishing charters have not been dissapointed getting put onto some great sized fish.
