With the full moon over the past weekend and some great conditions, we have seen some phenomenal fishing from both ports. Don't be fooled into thinking we haven't got some amazing fishing to be had here. Westernport in particular this week has fished unbelievably well. Snapper in particular have been doing well in the upper reaches of the port in tight channels ranging from Corinella to Yarringa. Fresh baits have been the key! Even a few Jew fish have made an appearance which is always exciting!

However, what is really getting anglers excited is the coastline fishing which has been unbelievable again! With a 255kg Sword fish at Lakes Entrance pulled in and a 140kg and 150kg Tuna caught in the shallows of Port MacDonnell, it is certainly marking an exciting time for Victorians ready for the coming seasons. We are looking forward to some excellent fishing in the coming months that's for sure!

Port Phillip Bay
On Sunday morning Amelia headed out from St Leonard's in the hope of finding a few whiting with her father and grandfather. It turned out to be a great morning with the whiting on the bite from the first bait! It was on from there with whiting in the boat every few minutes and rods getting bites all over the place! They ended up with their bag limit reached in just over an hour!
13 year old Oscar with the results of a few hours of drifting baits and Squid jigs off Werribee on ANZAC day!
The Gaffman and his old man hit Sorrento for some whiting and squid during the week. They fished out the front of Sorrento in 3 metres of water for their calamari drifting and casting jigs to get them to bite! They then moved to get their whiting behind Mud Island in 5 metres of water! They found the best baits were a Pipi cocktail!
Blakey has been fishing in western port this week and had a great session on Tuesday afternoon! He reports he and his mate smashed the whiting in the eastern channel! There were buckling rods all over the place with fish coming in fairly consistently around the 44-47cm size!

Beau Spierings had a ripper session catching squid with his dad off Hastings! It took them some time but once they found out the colours of jigs working best they had a great time! Red and orange jigs were their go to colours!
Staff member Matts good friend Richard has been fishing Westernport hard lately and has found himself some awesome fishing! He has been fishing right around the top end of the port from Corinella to Warneet. He has landed a total of 17 snapper in the past few sessions (the smallest being 73cm and biggest 88cm) and 3 Jew fish on his kayak! He said fresh bait has been the key and matching the hatch with baits caught in the area he is fishing.
Good friend of the shop Wally went out near the sub in Westernport for some squid. He reports a cracking session on the calamari landing multiple squid up to 30cm!
