With one of the worst weeks of weather we have seen this winter we have had a very similar week in fishing. Due to almost 7 days of wind and rain it has made anglers getting out almost impossible. How ever those who did get out locally have been rewarded with good captures in both Port Phillip Bay and Western Port Bay.

Port Phillip Bay
Locally the squid have finally starting to show up in numbers with anglers fishing the reefs from Mordialloc to Brighton managing to catch their bag when the weather has aloud. Keys to finding the squid are finding some clean water and if colour on a jig isn't working, try another colour.
Aaron Habgood from Reds Fishing Adventures braved the weather this week managing to get his clients onto a few fish. This great size gummy was taken in southern Port Phillip bay by one of Aaron's clients.
Western port Bay
Regular customer Paul came into the shop during the week to tell us he has been getting some great squid this week down the bottom end of WP bay. Paul said the water was still pretty dirty around the top end of the bay so he has been going south to find the clear water in order to catch his squid. Paul also said theEvergreen jigs in size 3.5 and bright orange colours has been doing the damage.
Keith fished bottom end Westernport last week and caught this beautiful Gummy on fresh squid. Its not uncommon to catch fish of this size at this time of year, fishing the turn of the tide combined with using fresh baits in the right ground should put you onto some good fish like this one!

Out Of Town
Scott Gray has been sneaking out when the weather has been letting him and finding some quality bream in the local rivers and estuaries. Scott said that even though the water was a bit murky he was still finding some quality fish. This Bream took a Storm 2 inch Hyper grub.
