What a week of Fishing! This week we saw Jumbo Tuna being caught in our own waters! With Jumbos being caught out off Westernport and the Rip, the tuna fishing is incredibly exiting! With the fishing also amazing in Portland through the week, we have seen some of the seasons biggest fish be brought in this season. We also have seen the Snapper starting to warm up this week with some great fish being taken out of Westernport.

Port Phillip Bay
We have seen and heard of some great squid fishing down at Portsea this last week with bag limit captures not uncommon. Best jigs have been dark and red foil colours fished in the incoming tide.
More on the local seen again this week the garfish seem to be out in great numbers. Beaumauris bay and Frankston pier seem to be the hot spots and using live maggots and burley being the key to success.
Staff Member James snuck out for a quick session on Patterson river managing to find some bream. James was fishing hard bodies and vibes with his best fish going 36cm. Patterson River is a quality fishery with some serious bream and other species to be caught.

Western Port Bay
Mr nice guy Tam Misson thought he would try his luck out the front of western port bay on Monday. Tam called the shop in the morning to tell us he had put a fish on the deck whilst fishing solo in his boat Black Opps. Tam also said there were plenty of whales and bait out there and he caught his fish on a sprocket in evil colour. Well done Tam and thanks for making us jelous whilst we were trying to work hard in the shop.

Glen and his mate went looking out the front of Phillip island on Sunday and came home with the goods. The boys caught this giant tuna which weighed 125 kgs on a lumo sprocket in 50 metres of water.

Customer Jarrod went for an early season Snapper at the top end of westernport bay on the weekend. Jarrod was fishing with his new Rapala Imperium rods and said they worked perfectly on these lovely early season Snapper he caught on squid as bait.

Customer Clee Grace fished the top end of westernport bay during the week and fished the last of the high and the first two hours of the run out tide. Clee caught some great snapper to 5.5 kgs and was using squid as bait.

Lake Dildon
Dougie pictured below with a great Murray cod he caught out the front of the big river arm. Dougie was trolling with a purple diver when this train hit and gave him an almighty fight.
