What a week of Fishing yet again!
The jumbos just keep rolling in, with over 15 jumbos caught in Portland alone its been a fantastic week of fishing. Also reports are sill coming in of Jumbos caught (and lost) out the front, anywhere from Phillip Island to Cape Shank.

Port Phillip Bay is also beginning to fire up with plenty of local Pinkies Squid and Salmon being caught with the odd Early season snapper. Western Port has been fishing well with some quality snapper being taken in the top end more and more consistently, It wont be long now until its ON.

Port Phillip Bay
Port Phillip is beginning to fire up with plenty of pinkies around as well and local squid and salmon. Some good early snapper have been taken around Mordialloc to Sandringham with reports of a few fish over 5kgs. As always fresh baits is key as we wait for the water to warm up a tiny bit more until the snapper really start to fire up. Many anglers have been catching good size pinkies off the piers and rocks in between Mordialloc and Brighton. Right on sunset and just after seems to be the time with a simple paternoster rig being the best way to go. Anglers have also being finding some good squid off the rocks and piers in the same areas.

Blakey from Reds Fishing Adventures had a great morning on on Port Phillip Bay out of Queensclif with Anthony. The boys managed a bag of whiting under 1 hr biggest fish 47 smallest 36cm. On the way in they also managed a nice bag of squid, managing a squid a cast!

Ahmad snuck out to St Leonards on a day off last week and had a great bag out session on the squid. Ahmad was using a Evergreen pilchard blue jig and caught some quality sized squid.
Western Port
The fishing in Westernport is also starting to fire up with some quality snapper being caught. Hot spots have been Lysaghts, Hastings, Corinella and other top end areas. Westernport has still been producing some quality squid with the stand out jig colours being Reds, Blacks and other dark colours. The best areas to target the squid at the moment are Tyabb Bank, Quail Bank and the from Portsea to Shorham.

With some great days of weather over the past 7 days we saw many anglers making the short journey out off the Western Entrance of Westernport in search of a local jumbo Tuna. With a few Jumbos being taken out off Flinders as close as the 40m line, theirs no better time to get out there and catch a local Jumbo.
