Report 16/11/16

Post by Nicole Penfold » Thu Nov 17, 2016 9:53 pm

FINALLY we have had a great week of weather and the results have shown. Reports have been coming in of the Snapper really starting to fire which is what we have been waiting for over the last few weeks. Great fish have been caught all the way from Carrum to St Kilda with most fish coming out of the 16 - 20m marks. However this week we saw some great fish come of the shallow reefs from Brighton to Beaumaris. We have also seen great Squid and Whiting from the top end of the bay in both Queenscliff and Sorrento. With this forecast of almost perfect weather over the weekend with the tides matching up to first and last light, we are in for a awesome weekend of fishing.

Port Phillip Bay
Staff members Mitch and James were at it again at the start of the week out in PPB with Mitch getting a new PB with his fish tipping 7kg. The boys found the fish in 16m of water off Ricketts Point and marked plenty of fish but had to burley very hard to get them to bite. Both were caught on silver whiting.

Staff members James and Sam had a crazy session on PPB reds Wednesday morning. The fish are really starting to fire up now and the boys from Fishing Fever found them in 16 meters of water off Mordialloc. They were fishing with Silver Whiting and Squid as bait and caught 7 fish from 4kgs to 7kgs before they had to come in to get to work.

Staff member James has been getting some quality fish on the new Storm So Run soft plastics. On Tuesday around lunch time, James got stuck into some great reds from 3-4kg on the shallow reefs from Black Rock to Beaumaris. Soft plastics are great fun on light gear and are fantastic as you can catch fish all throughout the day.

Aaron Habgood from Reds fishing adventures has been into some good fishing again this week with some great Squid and Whiting captures. Aaron has been fishing the southern end of the bay and using fresh Squid as bait for the Whiting and size 3.5 bright squid jigs for the Squid.

Western Port
Customer Ryan and his mate fished the bottom end of the Port earlier in the week and found some great quality reds. The boys fished the run out tide and reported a great quality session of consistent fish. The best bait was fresh squid.
