Port Phillip Bay

Staff member James took good mate Mitch out for a session on the Reds on Sunday. The boys fish of mordialloc and caught some quality fish with silver whiting being the best bait. Once again burling hard was key to holding the fish in the area.

18 members of the Keysborough Angling Club, both male and female, fished Port Phillip Bay over the weekend and had a ball chasing snapper. Most members were not disappointed as a total of 34 snapper were caught amongst the group. Best catches for the group included angler Ken Hanna with his bag of three fish weighing in at 13kg. A fantastic effort by the group and its great to see the local angling clubs getting amongst this seasons great run of snapper.
Jason from Magnet fishing charters also sent through the following report with regards to the snapper fishing over the past week. "Well what an action packed week it's been on Magnet. With water temps rising there has been some sensation Big Snapper action on the eastern side of Port Phillip Bay. Once again this week we have seen quality Snapper to 8 kg in water depths from 6 m right through to 18 m. Best Baits have been pilchards and squid with tide changes producing the best bites. Great to see big numbers of king George whiting moving in the shallows also with any weed or reef in 8 m or less worth a shot. The southern calamari bite continues as does some hefty schools of Australian Salmon. It's looking great for this new moon period so jump on a charters grab your boat and get out here.

Western Port

Wally and his mates got the word that the fish were on at the top end of western port bay on Thursday and had a ball catching over 20 Snapper. The boys were fishing the run out tide and said the fishing was insane with most baits catching a fish. Fish to 6kgs and plenty of them on fresh squid as bait.

Customer of the shop Joe Magro fished with his son Jordan out of westernport during the week. The boys fished out of Point Wilson and had a ball catching a lovely bag of whiting. Joe reported that the fish were taking mussles and squid as baits. Most of the fish were also caught on the change of tide. The coming month should see great captures of whiting become more common so if your after a change of pace from the snapper get out there and give them a go. We have had solid reports from across both bays regarding whiting captures.

Out of Town

Friend of the shop Ken Sol fished eucumbene recently and had a great trip catching some solid brown trout on the fly.
The snowy lakes have been fishing very well of late with lots of great fish like these being taken.
This was shared from facebook where they were fishing near taralgon and caught some really nice redfin. They were fishing for bass but had no luck on that venture but were more then happy to find a nice patch of redfin.
