Port Phillip Bay
Customer of the shop Jamie fished out of Altona yesterday morning in great boating conditions where he encounted this gummy shark. The fish was caught on a squid head bait, at about 11am. Jamie reports that he also lost a much bigger fish that broke off at the knot after a huge run.

The local kingfish reports are just starting to filter through now as well with the rip sure to be a worthy location for targeting these species over the coming months. Proline fishing charters caught some good size Kings earlier this week trolling skirts through this area. We have a huge range of kingfish lures and rigs in stock including a variety of stickbaits, jigs, divers and skirts. Be sure to drop into the shop and chat with the boys if you are planning on heading out for a crack at the local kingfish population.

We have also received some very good reports of some great sized squid coming from the Mornington Peninsula. Some of the better locations have been out of Blairgowrie, Sorrento and Portsea. Evergreen and Harrimitsu Size 3.5 jigs have been the standout lures. There has also been reports of some great size gummy sharks coming from out of the channel at the Southern end of the bay.

Western Port
Lee and the girls fished Westernport on Tuesday afternoon in some ordinary weather. In search of some big whiting the Rayner family fished the deeper water near middle spit. The girls showed lee how it was done catching some lovely whiting all over 40cm. The black magic whiting snatchers and whiting whackers were the go to rigs fished with a piece of pippie and squid.

Staff member Mitch and his mate Rob fished out off Shoreham on Tuesday afternoon in search of some gummy shark. The boys started off catching some great size calamari for bait before heading out in about 12m in search of a gummy. Stand out squid jigs were size 4.0 Harrimitsu jigs. Fishing the end of the run out tide the boys also managed to catch their bag of gummies ranging in size from 3-8kg.

East Gippsland
Customer of the shop Kev popped in last week for some advice on chasing kingfish down the coast of East Gippsland. Armed with some Rapala stickbaits Kev had a ball catching several kings off lakes entrance in what can only be described as glorious offshore conditions.

Good customers The Martin family from Colac had some great success down Portland way during the week. Lee Martin (pictured) caught this awesome Kingfish on a williamson jet popper. Lee's fish later weighed 15.9kgs and is his new PB. Great to see kingfish coming from all over our state.
