The shop has been busy this past week as Spring has well and truly made an appearance. The cold nights and days have been replaced with sunshine which has in turn started to warm the water and good captures of Snapper, Squid and everything in between have started to appear along our magnificent Victorian coast. We would also like to welcome young max into the team at Fishing Fever. Max fishes out of a Hobie outback and loves the versatility that this small and nimble craft allows. Make sure you pop in the next time you're heading near the store and say 'Hi'. And don't forget, Lee and the boys go Live on our Facebook page every Thursday to talk all things fishing and answer any questions you might have.

Justin Blythe and Chris Clarke got stuck into some snapper last night around Joe's Island. The boys reported that fishing shallow on the incoming tide that was pushing water of 13.5'c in was key to their success.

Good friend of the store, Pat, also took advantage of yesterdays warmer conditions and departed nice and early for a solo fish. Pat started the day by drifting around Quail Bank for some fresh squid to use as bait before heading off in search of some snapper. While the snapper didn't want to play the game, Pat was happy to hook and land a few solid Banjos for some fun.

Aaron Feldman recently fished the top end of Western Port in around 16m of water. He reports that he caught this good snapper using a strip of fresh Barracouta on the run in tide.

Good friend of the store Clee, fished the top end of WP using fresh squid on the run in tide when out of nowhere this brute decided to take the bait and head for home. After a fun filled fight, Clee managed to subdue the 7.9kg snapper and bring him onboard for a few quick happy snaps.

Store manager Lee McDuffie and his great mate George headed out yesterday to look for some squid, and what they found will live on in their minds for a while! The guys caught this absolute TRUCK of a squid that dwarfed all the others caught for the day. Once home this squid pulled the scales down to 3.48kg! As mentioned, this wasn't the only squid caught for the day, the guys fished Evergreen 3.5 sized jigs and report that darker colours were the standout.

Port Phillip Bay
Aaron Habgood from Reds Fishing Adventures, as always, has been getting very friendly with the Snapper this week out in the bay. Here he is pictured with a healthy little red caught using fresh squid. Aaron reports that he's super excited for the coming snapper season.

Photi Kaoullas was out during the week and managed to land this great sized Snapper from the bay using fresh squid. The fish fought well and was a great way to start snapper season.

Tibby Flora and a couple of his mates launched out of Werribee and went in search of a feed of squid. While they didn't manage to find any huge calamari, they caught a stack of smaller squid. They report that the squid were favoring purple coloured jigs on the day, with red foil coming in a close second.

Gippsland Lakes
Local gippy angler Leigh McVeigh walked the bank casting small Strike Pro minnows and working them with a twitch and pause retrieve. He reports that this is just one of 4 fish for the afternoon caught using this method, which can be super productive during this time of year.

Scott Mccallum fished the Mitchell with fresh baits to land this great bag of bream over 30cm in quick succession. Scott reports that the conditions were perfect for producing Bream, with a light breeze and a semi overcast day producing the goods.

Lake Lonsdale
Trevor Holmes and 2 of his good friends fished Lake in search of some tasty Redfin this past week. Casting Rapala CD5 and Ecogear SX40 hard bodies in among the school of fish resulted in multiple double and triple hook ups on fish to 2.5 kg's

Patterson Lakes
New staff member Max ventured down to Patterson Lakes recently n search of Estuary Perch. Max fished an Ecogear VX blade with a slow hop retrieve around the boat mooring blocks to great success. Pictured here is one of four EP's landed in a short afternoon session.
