Well that's it for the Football season and Richmond have won the flag for the first time in 27 years! Now that the season is done and dusted, most anglers turn their attention towards the Snapper. Some real early season monsters have been caught over the past month in both WP and PPB, but it's only going to get better as the water temps rise and the bait starts to move in. The shop is all stocked up with berley, bait and terminal tackle ready for anglers to start hitting the water.

Western Port
Sully and his good mate Chris scored this ripping Red out of the top end of Western Port. Fishing shallow and with fresh squid produced the results on the Run in tide.

Mason Schulze is another angler taking advantage of the warmer shallow waters in the top end of WP. Here he is with an absolute cracking bag of Reds pulled from water no deeper than 8m and on fresh squid.

Mario Dugonjic spent the time to sound around and find the active feeding snapper recently, he reports that while it took some time to do the end result was worth it with 3 fish over 4kg and 3 missed fish. The bait of choice was IQF Pilchards.

Port Phillip Bay
Mason Schulze may well be the bain of Melbourne Snapper this year, here he is with another quality snapper, this time caught off of Blackrock in 18m of water.

Aaron Habgood seems to have spent more time with a bend in his rod than he has waiting for a fish to bite this week! He's been getting stuck into the tings, Snapper, Calamari and Gummy sharks. Aaron reports that using fresh bait and keeping an eye on the sounder has paid off to the tune of some awesome catches.

Amin Barsoum found himself tangling with this cracking 7.5kg Snapper off the Willy Footy Grounds in yesterdays gorgeous weather. In previous years the key to success has been to use plenty of Berley to draw cruising fish to your baits.

Jonny Maroun turned some freshly caught Salmon into this honking Gummy! Jonny reports that he fished off of Clifton Springs in 10m of water and that this fish gave an extremely good account of itself.

Lake Eucumbene
Marcus has just returned from a trip up to the snowy mountains where he fished lake Eucumbene. Needless to say he had a great trip catching some cracking spring time Browns that this region is famous for.
