We are well and truly in the heart of snapper season now with the report this week dominated by the big reds. The snapper fishing is becoming very consistent with a heap of keen anglers getting amongst the action. The past week has seen an influx of reports from our more local waters with areas such as Black Rock and Mordialloc producing some great fishing. The past week has also seen the return of the humble king george whiting from Westernport in particular. There are some good whiting getting and in reasonable numbers. Look for the whiting fishing to only improve as we head into summer. With some magnificent weather predicted for this weekend now is the time to get out on the water and enjoy some of the best fishing our bays have to offer.

Port Phillip Bay
We received the following report from Tony who fished with his son Peter on Sunday. The boys caught some lovely fish however said that they had to work hard for them.

Customer steve convinced his son Cam to join him for a session on the PPB snapper over the weekend. The boys were not disappointed with this cracking fish that pulled the scales down to 9kg. The fish, which was take out of Mordialloc was released to fight another day which is great to see. The fishing locally has really fired up over the past week with good numbers of fish and consistent catches coming from Black Rock through to Carrum.

Magnet Fishing Charters continue to put their customers onto some lovely fish over the past week. Check out the soundings of PPB schooled up Snapper. Just what you want to see before throwing in the anchor.

Our good friend Blakey has been on the water and while it’s snapper season with hot calm weather of late he turned his attention to the whiting and needless to say it’s been a good move with big numbers of big fish on offer in the port.

Good customer Brendan fishes out of his jet ski which is rigged with all the bells and whistles. These are some of the fish brendan has encountered over the past week with some great snapper fishing more recently off Hastings. Fishing with his best mate Ben the boys have managed some great fish using fresh squid as bait. Check out these awesome pics with Brendan's fully kitted out ski included.
