Weekly Report 13 Mar 11

Later this week will be a great time to be offshore and I would recommend an evening session if the weather holds out on the close in reefs. There are still plenty of red throat emperor, tuskfish, snapper, hussar, cod and other reef species around the traps. It was a little too rough to enjoy too much this past week and the fish sort of knew it as well with not too many having a great time in the windy weather. Those in the bigger vessells that go out overnight did hook up to some sensational fish. Later this week will also be a good time for a troll and the target species are the mackerel, tuna, wahoo and mahi mahi.

The estuaries are alive with herring and hardiheads so try catching some for fresh bait. The flathead love big herring that are sitting around waiting to be eaten and big bream also love to much on them. Trevally are around but not in any big numbers at the moment but the good news is the tailor hanging around the Pumistone Passage and Maroochy Bar entrances. The rocks and beaches will also be worth a target at the bottom of the tide later in the week with the big moon phase that will be taking shape. I look forward to seeing how everyone goes this week it should be a cracker. Have Fun!
