Weekly Report 17 Sep 12

I apologise for the late report but the weather has not been fantastic around the traps lately. The good news is that there is a window of opportunity over the coming days that gives you the chance to get amongst them. Tuesday through to Thursday seem to be the way to go and going deep will be the key to quality fish. The big snapper and pearl perch are in the 100m plus areas so it is out to Wide Caloundra, Tempest or the Barwon Banks to really enjoy the rewards. Wahoo, cobia and kingfish are all around the known haunts and fishing the right tides and right baits will make a difference. Work areas like the Gneerings, Murphy's and Currimundi for a chance at any half descent sized pelagic this week particularly with the moon phase the way it is. It won't hurt to get out to Murphy's on the evening change as a few reefies will make their presence felt.

The estuaries are full of fish at the moment including bream, flathead and trevally. Lures both hard bodied and soft plastics are working a treat and small blades are picking up the bream around the pontoons and jetties. Whiting are working the real shallow areas on the last movement of the tide. Fishing into the night this week should reward you with some mulloway and bigger flathead. Try live herring or poddy mullet for best results. The rocks and beaches are worth a look this week so give the dart, trevally and bream along the Wurtulla strip a try when all else seems to hard. Have Fun!
