Weekly Report 4 May 13

Offshore fishing has been fantastic, with plenty of snapper, pearl perch, hussar and a few coral trout being taken along Sunshine Reef lately. This time of year there are plenty of grassy sweetlip and red throat emperor on the closer reefs so you don't have to travel to far to get a feed. Long tail Tuna getting about from Currimundi Reef through to the Outer Gneerings, just look for the obvious signs. Brays Rock is worth a troll and a bottom bashing trip in the early mornings or late afternoon. SUnshine Reef is the spot for my moneythis weekend because of the many different opportunites available on it, everything at the moment from mackerel through to coral trout, why wouldn't you want to go.

Whiting, bream and flathead within the estuary systems with the best spots being the mouth of the Maroochy and Noosa Rivers, the Powerboat Club and Wickham Point. Dart are plentiful along the beach stretch from Dicky Beach through to Point Cartwright and beyond. There are also some chopper tailor and the chance of a bigger mulloway to be had when conditions are right. The Maroochy River and the Pumicestone Passage at Caloundra have seen good numbers of School Jew on the run out tide and chopper tailor taking poppers and small chrome slugs in the morning. Plenty of undersize bream around Gemini and Military Jetty so get the kids down there for some fun. You will only need a small hook and a couple of slices of bread to catch them. Shovel nose rays along Currimundi beach and some smaller sharks have been landing recently. Good time to be out and fishing, Have Fun!
