Weekly Report 3 Jun 13

Some less than average weather after a really classic run of late. The seas look like they will settle enough by Thursday to get an offshore trip in for some snapper for those that have the opportunity. It should also be a good day for a close in trip around Murphy's and the Caloundra 7 & 12 mile reefs so plan accordingly. Either early morning or late afternoon tidal changes will make the best times to target the snapper along with sweetlip and red throat emperor. Pearl perch will be on the wider reefs if you are happy to run out that far in the coming days. Brays rock and Currimundi reef should also be top spots to look at.

The estuaries are full of sea mullet and big sea bream at the moment and the deeper waters are the best place to target them. Areas like the Cod Hole or the Boardwalk would be my first pick. Herring and mullet are around on the bait scene along with an occassional pike, but you will need to work the change of the tides. Winter whiting around Happy Valley and the sand flats at Golden Beach or try the weed beds south of Bell's Creek. Mulloway in the channels and some terrific dart and chopper tailor on the beaches. The fishing will continue to get better and when the southerlies and easterlies drop, it will be on...Have Fun!
